We have three Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in care at The Ark, and as long as we keep the males separated, they get along fine. They all suffered wing and feather injuries and will take time to fully recover. The female below was dehydrated and very thin when she arrived, but she has stabilized quickly. We mix hummingbird formula, supplemental amino acids and blended fruit flies to make a nourishing smoothie for them. Catching fruit flies is not a problem at this time of year!
It’s wonderful to see these migratory birds return every spring! We’ll do our best to keep them happy and healthy until they are ready to buzz back out into the wild.
Please help us help the orphaned, injured, and ill wild birds of Northeast Florida by donating at www.thearkrescue.org/donate
