What to Do if You Find a Baby Bird Alone on the Ground

STOP! Most baby birds do not need human intervention unless they are sick, injured, or urgently need medical attention. The best way to help is to keep the bird in the wild, allowing it to remain with its parents and family.

     · Hatchlings or Nestlings: These birds have little to no feather development, unopened or partially opened eyes, limited mobility, and cannot perch or stand. The best action is to return them to their nest or place them in an artificial nest container nearby.

     · Fledglings: These birds are mostly feathered, active, mobile, hopping around, or taking short flights. Fledglings should generally be left alone, as it is normal for them to be on the ground during this developmental stage.

Helping baby birds thrive often means letting nature take its course. Ensure they stay wild and free!
