This Pileated Woodpecker flew back into the wild yesterday, after he was found on the ground at the Saint Augustine Alligator Farm, possibly stunned from a collision with a tree. We found him to be a healthy weight and kept him on kennel rest overnight. A test flight at our facility found him fit and ready to go. We released him just behind the Alligator Farm.
It’s the busiest time of our year, and we receive multiple baby birds and injured adults every day. Our patients run the gamut, from Hummingbirds to Hawks, Herons and Pelicans. We receive no state, local or federal funding, and we rely on people like you too fund our operations. Please help us help the injured, orphaned, and compromised wild birds of Northeast Florida by donating at www.thearkrescue.org/donate.
