CHECK POUCHES ... SAVE LITTLE LIVES <3

March 25, 2017

Baby opossum....cuteness personified. Most of the babies that come into care are found in the pouches of mommas who are struck by cars or killed by dogs in backyards. Take a moment to check any adult opossums that are hit or attacked.  If they are females, they  may very likely have babies on board.  Older babies will be hanging onto momma and younger babies will be inside her pouch. (Opossums are the only marsupial we have in North America!)  Listen carefully for the sneezing sound made by babies in distress in case a few babies wandered away from their mom.

Gather babies, keep them warm! using auxiliary warmth not just a blanket and call us to get them into care as soon as possible.
