Romeo and Juliet the Fireplace Crows

February 2, 2017

Wil and Mary Lou returned home from vacation to find two crows in their fireplace.  The chain fireplace screen was keeping them contained for the moment.  They reached out to The Ark and Valerie responded.  When she arrived, one of the crows had breached the fireplace screen and was flying around a neighboring room.  Like most birds trapped inside a home or business,  this one was reluctant to fly low and swoop out the open door. This is an instinct that is common and can sometimes be negated by placing a chair or stool in front of the door which allows the bird to momentarily alight and check for potential predators before flying back out into the wild.  Romeo (as he shall be called) was captured high atop a bookcase with the help of a ladder and a net.  Juliet joined him in the crate after Valerie retrieved her from fireplace.  Reunited, they were released together out near the lake...  A much better ending than that of  their  ill-fated namesakes <3
