This Canada Goose was found behind a home off of Kernan Blvd. He had a hook stuck inside his bill and was so wound up in fishing line that he could not walk or fly. Had Sissy not spotted him and asked her daughter Jamie to help her find a wildlife rescue group, this beautiful bird would have eventually died. Jamie called many numbers Saturday afternoon and was thrilled when The Ark's Valerie answered immediately and said she could make the drive out right away. Valerie was assisted by the wonderful Michelle Collum who is excited about joining The Ark's team of rescue and transport volunteers. Once Valerie had the goose calm and restrained, Michelle cut the barbed end of the hook off and it was backed out of the bird's mouth. Then all remaining fishing line was removed from around the goose's body and wings. Finally a careful examination was done and revealed that the goose had indeed injured himself as he struggled to free his wings, so he was taken into care by Valerie where he his wounds were cleaned and he received antibiotics. Once he is feeling well again, Valerie will return him to his home territory.
